I am wired to dislike Valentine’s Day

OMG, I dislike Valentine’s day. Do I buy a card? Do I buy dinner? Do I buy flowers? All three? Two of the three?
And these feel insincere … “I’ve done this because its expected”.
I simply cannot get it right or feel good about it.

I am jaded by Valentines as a business model …
Make a card for a penny, sell it for $4.49.
Make a meal for $15, sell it for $150+tax and tip.
Grow roses for $4, sell for $40, and they’ll be wilted in a day.
As we are all allergic to anything with 1000% markup.

Here are breadcrumbs that helped me understand, hope they shine some light into your world too …
“ … I just want someone to bring me tea in the morning”
my translation … “I want someone to care about me.”
The small gestures show you care, they matter, they really do matter.

OK! this I CAN DO. If this small thing makes you feel cared for and loved, I will happily bring you tea morning, noon, and night. It is a joy.

The smallest gestures weave the fabric of enduring relationships.
Bring your valentine tea in the morning.
