Data Breach and Data driven innovation

In an epic cyber-own-goal; National Public Data (NPD), published its back-end database passwords on its homepage. Resulting in (possibly) the worlds largest data breach, billions of records relating to credit history and personal info.
This is not an isolated event. Root cause: (by design) valid credentials bypass security. All that sophisticated (expensive) penetration prevention simply bypassed when valid credentials are presented. Evidenced by the fact that data breach is (still) daily news.

But, Data breaches can be prevented all together; including credentialed users, 3rd parties and credential abusers. Its about the data, not about the network. Keep the data IN.
